Gamezenter Community Events
Gamezenter welcomes gaming communities and gaming organizers who wish to host their events at Gamezenter.
What is a “Community Event”
A community event is one organized by an individual, a club, or an organization (such as a publisher), who wish to use the Gamezenter facilities to host their event. In addition, a community event is one which any interested person may participate (by showing up, or signing up to the event prior).
What a “Community Event” is not!
A community event is not a private game group, a club, an event in which the community organizers charge participants a direct or indirect fee, or one which is not open to all participants.
Gamezenter is happy to rent our private game rooms or our large event rooms for private functions. You may read more about private game rooms here, or about our banquet event halls here.
There are three types of community events:
1) Standard community events
If approved, Gamezenter will promote your event on our event track, and will reserve space for a reasonable number of players (based on a realistic estimate) in our open game room. Participants in the event will be required to acquire a daypass from Gamezenter to enter the open game area.
.As a reward for handling the event, the community organizer will receive a free daypass and a Gamezenter coupon equal to $2 per event participant (for a min. $10) redeemable within 90 days for game merchandise.
2) Learn-to-play/demonstration community events
If approved, Gamezenter will promote your event on our event track and will reserve space for a reasonable number of players (based on a realistic estimate) in a dedicated public space outside of our open game area.
Unless sponsored/compensated by an outside party (such as the publisher of the game), Gamezenter may, at its discretion, award the community organizer with a free daypass and a Gamezenter coupon (to be determined on a case-by-case basis).
3) Gamezenter Sponsored Community Events
A community organizer may request that community events be Gamezenter sponsored with prize support. In this case, event participation is subject to a fee (usually $10 per participant) for which Gamezenter will provide a complimentary daypass for all participants and will sponsor prizes and/or organized play materials for the event (typically product and/or merchandise coupons).
A community organizer for Gamezenter-sponsored events will typically need to sign a contractor agreement with Gamezenter, and will receive a negotiated amount (usually in store coupons) for organizing the event, including a free daypass the day of the event.
How do I Submit a Community Event?
To submit a new community event, follow the steps below:
1. Create or Log into your Gamezenter Community Organizer account.
Enter your username and password to log in to your Gamezenter Community Organizer account here. If you don’t have an account, click the “register” link and follow the instructions to create one. (Note that this is different from your Gamezenter shop account; those credential won’t log you in here.)
2. Add your Event
Once you’re logged in, you can add your event.
- Enter a title and a description, and a time and date(s). Make sure to include the game you’re running, and what the players will be doing. (Note that we might tweak the title or description for length or clarity.)
- Upload an exciting banner image, ideally one that’s 1200×360 pixels in size.
- Enter whatever categories and tags you feel are appropriate, and your community website if you’ve got one.
- Leave the cost blank unless you’ve already made arrangements with us. Community events should generally be free and open to anyone in the community.
Once you submit your event, you’ll receive an email within a few days letting you know whether or not it’s been accepted. If it is, it’ll be on the events calendar! If not, we may ask you for more information or to pick a different date.
3. Spread the Word
That’s all there is to it! Once your event is scheduled, go on and let the world know!
Thank you for hosting your event at Gamezenter. We look forward to seeing you here!
